Here is a list, in no particular order, of reasons why I choose to do a “31-Point-Plan” every month. And it is something that anyone could decide to do, in any way they might choose to do it. I originally wrote about this back in 2010; my therapist introduced it as a tool wherein you list the things that, by doing these things every day, it makes you happy and content. And it took me several years before I really understood the concept (which is kind of sad, actually). But I am grateful now! So here are my 31 Reasons:
- To help balance the different areas of my life.
- So I remember to do the things that are important to me.
- To schedule some space for doing the things that I enjoy
- It helps me remember what day it is.
- It helps to keep track of what I’ve been doing on any given day.
- It enables me to make progress on my goals.
- It helps me see what areas I’ve been avoiding or neglecting.
- It enables me to structure my days how I choose.
- It keeps time from slipping away from me mindlessly.
- Helps me to determine what things make me most happy and content.
- Gives me total control over what I put on the list and what I choose to do.
- Gives me daily focus.
- Let’s me track how I am doing.
- Helps me pay attention to my life.
- Helps me see where I need to improve.
- Enables me to feel good about my progress.
- Helps me plan my time.
- Is a way to ensure that I draw at least once a month.
- Gives me a viewable history.
- Reminds me to do things.
- Gives satisfaction to check things off.
- Inspires me to take stock every month.
- Allows me to take stock and plan every day.
- Gives me motivation to do certain things.
- Keeps me awake to my life.
- It encourages growth and self-improvement.
- It’s fun.
- It’s flexible but yet compelling.
- Every month can be different.
- It’s easy and user-friendly.
- It gives me POWER over my life.
And for 2014, I have now done two of them so far, and I intend to keep it going – until if, at some point, I decide for some reason not to do them anymore.
